ABOUT REMC
REMC is a sole trader biodiversity consultancy servicing the Widebay Burnett Region, owned and operated by Roger M Currie. Roger has resided in the region since 1975 and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Contemporary Protected Area Management, from the University of Queensland Gatton College.
Roger is also the President and Water Policy Officer for the Widebay Burnett Conservation Council, is a member of the DERM Biodiversity Planning Assessment expert panel for the SEQ bioregion, DERM Aquatic ecology expert panel ( Wide Bay Burnett ) the Widebay Regional Coastal Management Planning group, the Widebay Regional Planning Technical working group, the Wide Bay Burnett regional water supply strategy technical group , Burnett Basin Water Resource plan review group and the Burnett Basin WRP CRP .
REMC specializes in the production of environmental reports and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) mapping products for the region. REMC has an extensive database of biodiversity mapping for the region, which allows for all environmental regulation requirements to be met at the property level.
REMC has produced plans for Federal, Regional and local governments, as well as private developers, and NGO’s.
PRODUCTS
PMAV Property Map of Assessable Vegetation
REMC can produce Property Maps of Assessable Vegetation ( PMAV) at 1:5000 scale for accurate legal definitions of ‘Remnant’( categories 1,2,3) , ‘ non- remnant’( category x ) , ‘moratorium regrowth’( category 4) , and ‘Essential habitat’ , to rectify mapping inconsistencies under the VMA 1999 Policies .
PVMP Property Vegetation Management Plan
REMC can produce Property Vegetation Management Plans ( PVMP ) to meet any regulation requirements for Development Approvals ( DA ) under the Federal ( EPBC ACT 1999) , State ( IPA1997, EPA 1994, NCA 1992 ) , Regional ( Widebay Burnett Regional Plan) and Local government ( Regional IPA ) environmental framework .
ECOLOGICAL REPORTS
REMC can produce scientific ecological reports required to support DA anywhere in the region.
GIS Geographical Information Systems
REMC can produce ESRI compatible shp. files for inclusion with DA , to assist planning assessors with processing DA .
REMC can produce ESRI compatible shp. for Reconfiguration of a lot ( ROL) and material change of use (MCU)
CC Conservation Covenants
REMC can produce reports and GIS mapping to support the creation of Conservation Covenants for DA within the region .
BIODIVERSITY OFFSETS
REMC can assist property owners with identifying a ‘vegetation offset’( biodiversity exchange ) , which may be required for DA.
An example of a Property Vegetation Managment Plan REMC designed for a rural subdivision on the Mary River at Mungar , which required stream riparian revegetation under DPIF guidelines .
